Fuyang AIDS Orphan Salvation Association (AOS)

Founded in December 2003, the Fuyang AIDS Orphan Salvation Association (AOS) is one of the few community-based, non-governmental organizations that specifically supports children affected by HIV/AIDS. AOS is located in Fuyang, Anhui, and is officially registered with the Health Bureau and the Civil Affairs Bureau of Fuyang City. Under the guidance of Zhang Ying, the founder and director of AOS, the organization has emerged as a unique, community-based NGO that now supports about 500 children in Anhui and Henan Province.  It was featured in the Academy Award winning Blood of Yingzhou District.  For more info: http://www.faaids.com

The China Orchid AIDS Project

The China Orchid AIDS Project, originally the Dongzhen AIDS Orphan Support Program, was established in 2003 to provide services and support for children affected by HIV/AIDS in Henan province, China. Founded by noted AIDS activist Li Dan, COAP has provided financial support for AIDS orphans in the villages of Henan, and recently established a community center to provide ongoing services and education.

Holt International

We recently made a modest contribution to Holt International, a highly respected adoption and relief organization headquartered in Seattle, Washington, to support a critical situation in Yunnan Province.  Our grant will provide three months of school supplies and increased nutrition for the 143 children living at the school as well as add a bit of protein to the noon meal for all the students attending the school.   Although not always welcomed into their homes because of fear and ignorance about the transmission of HIV, most of these village children are still, in some way, cared for by extended family members or neighbors.  It is believed that all the children in this village have suffered the loss of at least one parent to HIV/AIDS.

Amity Foundation

The Amity Foundation has been providing humanitarian aid in China since 1985 and has been working on AIDS related issues, public health services and education since the early 1990’s when AIDS was first identified in Yunnan Province.  Recently, Amity has also moved into the area of support and education for AIDS orphans in Henan province. We have made one grant to this well-respected organization.
