The Minneapolis Foundation

The Minneapolis Foundation is expressing once again its commitment to the Minnesota community in supporting the China AIDS Orphan Fund.

The China AIDS Orphan Fund is established under the auspices of The Minneapolis Foundation, one of the oldest and most respected community foundations in the United States. Established in 1915 as the first foundation in the state of Minnesota, The Minneapolis Foundation serves community interests and funds innovative initiatives to ensure a strong and vibrant social, cultural and economic future for the entire state. Within the past year The Minneapolis Foundation distributed over 30 million dollars to meet those goals.

Recognizing the growing links between the state of Minnesota and China, The Minneapolis Foundation provides administrative and managerial expertise in the establishment of the China AIDS Orphan Fund. Critical to the effective operation of the China AIDS Orphan Fund is our connection to like-minded organizations in Asia with which we establish partnerships. The China AIDS Orphan Fund is thankful for The Minneapolis Foundation’s assistance in establishing connections with Give2Asia, based in San Francisco.

The Asia Foundation established Give2Asia in 2000 with a clear mission to facilitate philanthropic activity between the United States and Asia. Give2Asia (G2A) is also our partner in establishing reliable, accountable philanthropic partnerships with members of the growing non-profit sector in China. G2A’s Hong Kong Office, one of 15 such offices in Asia, is the means by which donors to the China AIDS Orphan Fund can realize their desire to provide assistance to AIDS orphans in Henan Province. Based on Give2Asia’s due diligence assessment, The China AIDS Orphan Fund transfers grants for humanitarian relief to qualified non-governmental organizations working in Henan Province.
